Clay County, Mo., is one of the fastest growing regions of Missouri, with a rapidly expanding economy, outstanding workforce and the supports to grow even more.

Bordering dynamic downtown Kansas City on the south, Clay County includes some of the area’s most exciting industrial, commercial, residential and retail areas. Employers range from international corporations such as Ford Motor Company and Cerner Corporations to a healthy sector of small businesses and entrepreneurial efforts.

Nationally recognized William Jewell College, Metropolitan Community College-Maple Woods and “AAA” public schools are among leaders in education and workforce training. Quality of life amenities such as Smithville Lake make living and working here equally attractive.

Helping make all this happen is the Clay County Economic Development Council, a partnership of the private and public sectors aimed at the overall economic development of Clay County. With the goal of maximizing economic well-being and opportunity throughout the county, the EDC utilizes regionally recognized strategies to help create an environment where businesses succeed.
